My journey with ERT began in 2019. I learned about it and tried a session. I remember feeling a ton of sensation in my arms and my hands locked into claws as I laid face down, enduring the pain. It wasn't until the fall of 2025 that I did a 4 day ERT workshop with Pat Jackman. At that point, I was ready. After years of working jobs that I hated and feeling generally miserable, my life was just beginning to move forward out of a place of depression, directionlessness, and isolation. My father had also just passed from suicide. This workshop was so needed. I broke down, I learned to trust people a little more, and I took the deep dive into my body and emotions that had felt so stuck for so long. I knew for a long time that I would enter a healing journey at some point, and that I would learn a modality so that I could be of service to others. It was just a matter of timing and finding the right modality. There was nothing quite like ERT. It is raw, deep, real, vulnerable, and powerful. I didn't want to leave a healer wondering if anything really happened. With ERT, you can feel it. The energy moving through your body, the emotions you get to fully immerse in, and the freedom to express what you're feeling in any form it comes is unlike anything I've ever done. Not to mention the RELIEF that is felt after a session. ERT creates a space where everything is okay. It's not about self-improvement. It's about entering into what is already inside of us, waiting to be seen and felt.
Emotional Release Therapy
ERT is a heart centered healing modality that uses hands-on techniques to open points or "doorways" in the body that hold tension and stored trauma. At many different times in our lives, some form of distress was left unresolved. This is trauma, whether those moments of distress were big or small. The body holds onto it and waits until we are ready to resolve it. In ERT, we ask the body to bring forward what we are ready to resolve and allow the process to unfold.
In a safe, nonjudgemental, patient environment, unconscious emotions are allowed to emerge. Through opening points, using breath, and finding the inner child that first felt this emotion or sensation, awareness is shifted from the logical mind to the wisdom of the body. We allow the body and the emotions to process and express as needed. Through expression, we can let go of emotional weight, as well as call back fragmented parts of us.
The results of ERT are as vast and unique as each person who does it. When we bring parts of us back to consciousness, we become a little more whole. We often become much less burdened and feel lighter. We may feel more love, joy, freedom, peace, awareness, and more of our authentic self. We find it easier to be present. We are less triggered. We have more compassion for ourselves and others. We get to move forward.
ERT is intense. Opening the points is physically painful. It is literally and symbolically "breaking through" the walls we have created to keep ourselves safe and to not feel pain. This work is not reiki, not massage, and not a passive relaxation experience. You are the one doing the work. It is emotionally vulnerable. It can be hard and it can be scary. But I am here to walk you through it. I hope you do try it, because if you are ready for real change, you have found the right place.
